MOBIL Oil Marianas on Wednesday reduced its fuel prices by 12 cents.
It is the second price roll back this year. Mobil Oil and Shell Marianas reduced their prices by 10 cents in July but raised them by 15 cents earlier this month.
On Wednesday, Mobil’s regular gasoline price went down to $4.75 a gallon from $4.87 a gallon; the premium gas price went down to $5.20 a gallon from $5.32 a gallon; and the diesel price went down to $4.91 a gallon from $5.03 a gallon.
Shell Marianas is expected to follow suit.
Sal Limes, a government employee, said he was happy to see gas prices going down again.
Even though the roll back was just 12 cents, he said, it matters a lot to him because “I fill my truck’s tank with $40 worth of gas every two or three days.”
When gas prices were still low last year due to the global pandemic, he said he paid only about $76 to fill up his tank. But when he filled it last week because it was very empty, he paid $94.
Now that gas prices are going down again, “that helps me a lot,” he said, adding that he used his CNMI stimulus card to fill up his truck’s gas tank.
According to CNBC, oil prices fell on Tuesday, “weighed down by a weak demand picture in Asia and OPEC and its allies saying the market does not need more crude.”
