GOVERNOR Arnold I. Palacios on Monday nominated Chanelle A. Manglona to represent Rota on the Northern Marianas Technical Institute board.
Manglona is a teacher at Dr. Rita Hocog Inos Junior/Senior High School.
If the Senate confirms her nomination, Manglona will serve the remaining term of Ana Maria S. Mendiola, which will expire on March 11, 2024.
The governor noted that the statutory employment restriction that prohibits government employees from serving as a board member of the NMTI places an undue burden as it limits the pool of otherwise qualified potential appointees from Rota.
Accordingly, the governor said he was waiving such restriction as authorized by Section 2901 of the law pertaining to executive appointments.
The governor said he and the Lt. Gov. David M. Apatang are confident in Manglona’s ability to diligently serve on the board and contribute to NMTech’s growth as a provider of advanced career, trades, and technical training throughout the Commonwealth.
He said Manglona’s commitment to serve is greatly appreciated.
In a letter to Senate President Edith Deleon Guerrero, the governor said, “We respectfully request your favorable action on this nomination.”
