KES students get sponsors for meal cards

Tabelual in an interview yesterday said that out of 593 students, around 45 students cannot afford to pay the annual $46 meal card.

Tabelual said most of the students belong to the lower grade levels.

The principal said the school is thankful for Good Samaritan people who donate money to pay for the kid’s lunch.

Tabelual said on Christmas Day, NECO Plaza Corp. donated $460 to cover the meal cards for ten students.

He said on August last year, Alexander Humilde, an alumni of KES also donated money to cover the lunch of some students.

Alexander and Kalebrang Humilde donated $400 which benefited 14 students.

PNOC also sponsored one student so that the student can get a meal card for the entire year.

Parents whose children are enrolled in public School such as Koror Elementary School don’t have to pay tuition fees but they are required to pay $46 for their children’s lunch which will be provided by the school and other miscellaneous fees that are required by the Parents Teachers Association.

Tabelual said as of this moment, there are still 20 more students who cannot afford to pay lunch.

“What we do is we allow the students to get a free lunch while we are still searching for sponsors. We cannot deprive these students to eat lunch. Our main priority is for the students to learn and a meal is just a minor issue,” the school principal said.

“That’s the purpose that we educators are here for, to help the students and the parents. To provide the students the best,” he added.
