TWENTY Kagman High School Ayuyu Battalion cadets participated in a service learning project that encourages reading among younger students on Wednesday, November 2, at Kagman Elementary School. They remained there for around two hours doing what they had to do — read to elementary kinder to third grade students.

Cadets were split into two-person groups. Each group was escorted to their assigned classroom. From there, they interacted with the children by communicating with them and reading books to them. Additionally, they were given questions to respond to, such as “What is JROTC?”; “Why do we wear uniforms?”; and other questions.

The cadets had a great time reading to the kids. They were all friendly and upbeat. Going back to Kagman Elementary brought back memories for several KHS cadets. “The kids were just as thrilled to see us as we were to see them,” the cadets said. “They were also encouraged to one day become like us.”
The cadets would like to express their thanks to the principal of Kagman Elementary School, Dr. Ignacia T. Demapan, for allowing them to instruct the elementary students on this particular day.
