The topics discussed during the seminar were the importance of Zoning law and Koror Master Plan, the required documents needed when applying for building permits or business licenses as well as how development or construction are regulated inthe State of Koror.
The seminar was facilitated by M. Maggie Antonio, Executive officer of KPC-BZO, and John Wong, Chairman of KPC.
After the discussion, an open forum was held to get the feedbacks or recommendations from the participants.
Among the participants in the seminar were representatives from government and private agencies especially from construction companies.
During the seminar, Antonio said this was the first time that the KPC conducted a workshop.
The Koror State’s Zoning Law was established in 1976.This law regulates the location and use of buildings, the use of lands, the height of structures and areas for open spaces.
The zoning is important for the comfort and enjoyment of the citizens and visitors. Industrial areas and certain business establishments can interrupt the harmony of a residential area if there is no zoning of guidelines in building structures or facilities.
