11th Taste of Marianas kicks off

Marianas Visitors Authority Managing Director Perry Tenorio once again invites the community to enjoy five Saturdays of culinary delights, starting on May 2 and all throughout the remaining four Saturdays of the month.

The activities start at 6 p.m. and ends at 10 p.m on May 2, 9, 16, 23 and 30.

“We would like you to bring your families to experience and taste the best food choices and island delicacies prepared by the different hotels, restaurants and vendors at American Memorial Grounds,” Tenorio said.

He added that the Taste of the Marianas, the recently concluded 28th Flame Tree Arts Festival last week and the activities set for the coming Liberation Day celebration in July will give locals and tourists a taste of the various cultures on island.

On Saturday, live entertainment will be provided by Tropikool Blendz Band, Inatuas Cultural Dancers, Welippal Cultural Dancers and Parker Yamazaki Yobei

The participating food vendors are Aqua Resort Club Saipan, Fiesta Resort & Spa Saipan, Hafadai Beach Hotel, Hyatt Regency Saipan, Pacific Islands Club Saipan, Canton Restaurant, Saipan World Resort, Sierra Pearl Shakes, Capricciosa & Tony Roma’s, D’Elegance Café, Herman’s Modern Bakery, Hula Girl/3’s, Thai House Restaurant, Poon’s Restaurant and Ty & Tia.  

The beer garden vendors are the Pacific Trading Company, Marpac and the Northern Marianas Bartenders Association

Gov. Benigno R. Fitial signed the proclamation yesterday after it was read by tour operators.

The proclamation stated that tourism is the one and only industry in the CNMI that creates opportunities for employment, economic prosperity, international trade and cross-cultural understanding.

This year’s theme is “Tourism is Everybody’s Business.”
