13 candidates for manamko’ advisory council

“If I refused to serve it means that I’ve abandoned them,” she said, referring to her fellow congregates at the Aging Center.

Sorroza is among the 13 candidates, including three other current officers who are also seeking another term.

They are Meryalen Conrad, council member; Christiana Michael and Alejandra Blas, treasurers.

The other candidates for the Sept. 2 election are Manuel Mesa, Elena Villanueva, Jacoba Asuncion, Jesus Pangelinan, Maria Salinas, Bernard Sebangiol, Sitae Terry, Rita Reyes and Siyau Muna.

Aging Center program coordinator Walter Manglona said the candidates will campaign on Wednesday.

“They  will be talking to the other manamko’. They will ask for their votes and will them what they want to do if elected,” he said.

Manglona said he has prepared a “friendly” ballot design to allow the mananko’ to easily identify the candidates.

The names and pictures of the candidates are on the ballot.

Manglona said the congregates will only vote for eight of the 13 candidates.

The votes will be tallied in the conference room immediately after the ballots are cast, he added.

The eight winners will then schedule a meeting to select the council officers, he said.
