House Minority Leader Diego T. Benavente, R-Saipan, is also expected to attend the U.S. House Subcommittee on Insular Areas, Oceans and Wildlife’s oversight hearing at 3 p.m. on Tuesday (Wednesday, local time) on the implementation of the federalization law, or U.S. P.L. 110-229, in the CNMI.
Guam Congresswoman Madeleine Bordallo chairs the subcommittee.
The CNMI officials, led by the governor, will hand-deliver the four-page House Joint Resolution 17-4, which asks Congress to “direct” the Interior Department “to consult the governor” before making any recommendations regarding the islands’ guest workers.
