From the general fund revenue of $217.90 million in 2004, the collections dropped to $210.29 million in 2005.
The figure went lower still to $192.03 million in 2006, to $163.03 million in 2007, and to $162.759 million last year.
This means the general fund revenue or collections from taxes and fees showed no improvement but steadily went downhill from 2004, based on the latest data released by the Central Statistics Division of the Department of Commerce.
The bulk of taxes and fees collected last year came from the business gross receipts, which totaled $51.783 million. Collections from fees, charges and other revenues came next, $33.171 million.
Taxes and fees collected from salaries and wages reached $25.048 million, followed by excise taxes which amounted to $19.715 million.
Taxes and fees from personal and corporate income last year reached $12.898 million.
Collections from transfers from other funds totaled $7.285 million, closely followed by collections from fuel/container/bar, $7.283 million.
Revenues from hotel occupancy amounted to $5.56 million.
Revenues from transfers to other funds totaled $3.619 million while the collections from garment certification amounted to $3.634 million.
The last quarters of 2007 and 2008 saw the lowest revenue collections from salaries and wages, personal and corporate income tax, excise tax, hotel occupancy, garment certification and other fees.
