Lyzandra Barcinas and Rhea Chong were the parent-trainers and they were assisted by Viola S. Deleon Guerrero, Motheread/Fatheread coordinator.
The participants were Epenita Dosdos, Anastacio Nape Jr., Beth Magnaye, Dante Acosta, Janna Salvador, Joe Torres Jolene Torres, Baby Rejano, Flavon Takao, Evelyn Lopez, Winny Lu, Cherie Morales, Ann Francisco, Joanna Abellanosa, Amercy Aisek, Ezeth Smith, Emie Galgo, Zhang Fu Wen, Daisina Suda, Rossana DelaVega and Beverly Ngirmekir.
Barcinas discussed the benefits the program and how parents can help improve their children’s reading skills.
The program is also offered to other individuals, and not just parents, who want to encourage children to read.
“It helps parents, caregivers and teachers to explore stories and books for the kids to learn,” Barcinas said.
One of the participants is an aunt who takes care of her niece and babysits children.
“It’s really about the skills that they want to enrich themselves with so that they can provide help in literacy for the kids,” said Deleon Guerrero.
The Motheread/Fatheread program is sponsored by the NMI Council for the Humanities in partnership with the Joeten- Kiyu Public Library and the Public School System.
