3 minors arrested for car theft, burglary

The female and two males were then transported to the juvenile detention unit in Kagman.

They were  charged with burglary, theft, and theft of a vehicle, according to Department of Public Safety acting spokesman PO2 Jason Tarkong.

Police said the San Jose residence of the car’s owner, a 61-year-old woman, was burglarized at about 11:25 p.m.

Officer Sabino Cabrera arrived at the scene and met the victim who informed the police that she was awakened by noise inside her kitchen.

She later discovered her purse was missing, together with her house and car keys.

Her purse contained credit and ATM cards as well as a digital camera.

She said the total value of the stolen items was $600, including $100 cash.

At about 5:40 a.m. on the next day, police were dispatched to a reported car theft incident at the same residence.

The victim told police that when she woke up, her car, a white 2004 Mazda 3 Sedan, was missing.

At 6:14 a.m., Officer Abraham Villagomez was on patrol in Koblerville when he spotted the stolen car.

Villagomez radioed the details to DPS central and requested additional units as he followed the vehicle which was on Monsignor Martinez Road traveling north.

When responding units caught up with Villagomez, he activated his patrol car’s emergency lights and siren to pull over the stolen vehicle.

The driver of the stolen car at first attempted to pull over by the JTV Villagomez building in As Lito, but suddenly took off at a high rate of speed traveling north, police said.

A car chase ensued and it ended when police surrounded the stolen vehicle and executed a safe violator stop without any damage or injuries.

Police said Villagomez arrested one of the suspects who attempted to escape on foot.

The two other suspects in the car were also apprehended by the police.

Police said one of the suspects confessed to the burglary and disclosed where to find the stolen purse and items.

Police recovered the stolen items on the roof of a building.
