TWO men and a juvenile were arrested for alleged possession of marijuana while in a vehicle early yesterday morning.
Peterkin Floresca Tababa, Lester N. Olkerill, both 21, and a boy were held for illegal possession of a controlled substance.
A patrol officer ordered the vehicle’s driver to pull over after it was seen traveling on the opposite lane of the highway near Kaiser Cement Co.
The patrol officer spoke to the driver, Tababa, and detected a strong odor of possible marijuana smoke coming from the driver’s side.
The officer asked Tababa, “who looked nervous,” if he could search the vehicle. When Tababa consented, the officer found in the vehicle a knife and a plastic bag containing a green leafy substance believed to be marijuana.
Tababa allegedly stated “he did not get his weed from anybody because he grows his own.” He also claimed that the leafy substance belonged to one of the passengers.
In other news, nine persons, including an infant, were injured during a vehicular smashup Tuesday at the traffic intersection on Middle Road in Chalan Laulau.
Police said both drivers and their passengers suffered minor injuries. The two cars sustained major damages.
