4 NMC students granted scholarship

Padilla was one of the four NMC students  granted a $2,200 scholarship at the First Hawaiian Bank yesterday.

The other three were Ashley G. Sikayun, Frances T. Santos-Hofschneider and Roxanne T. Ferrer.

The scholarship is a collaboration between First Hawaiian Bank and Guam Business Today/Glimpses Publication.

The scholarship aims to encourage the students to study harder and be businesswomen someday, First Hawaiian Bank vice president and Saipan area manager Juan Lizama said.

“We are pleased to present this year’s scholarships to these students in recognition of their academic performance so that they may continue their education to attain their career goals,” senior vice president and region manager for Guam and CNMI Laura-Lynn Dacanay said in a press release.

On Monday, five students from Guam  were also awarded  the scholarship.

The University of Guam awardees were Lisa Nguyen, See L. Cabrera, Melisa A. Pisaro and Leilano l. Manalo — each received $3,500.

Chelsea A. Ulloa of Guam Community College received $2,200.

The scholarships were awarded based on merit, eligibility, a written essay and the financial needs of the students.

Funds for the scholarship were raised through the 2009 Businesswoman of the Year Gala held at the Hyatt Regency Guam in April.
