They will vie for awards in the caroling, attire and float competitions at American Memorial Park from 6 to 9 p.m.
The event will kick off with a half and full health walk at 4 p.m.
The half marathon will start at American Memorial Park and proceed to the 13th Fishermen Monument along Beach Road and back, while the full marathon will go all the way to the Japanese tank and back.
At 5:30 p.m., the participants will assemble at the Carolinian Affairs Office in Garapan for the parade to American Memorial Park.
The participating schools are Dandan Elementary School, Oleai Elementary School, Kagman Elementary School, Chacha Oceanview Junior High School, Koblerville Elementary School and San Vicente Elementary School.
The contestants in the float competition will be judged based on originality, relevance to the theme, decoration and costume/props.
The attire contestants must use costumes made from recycled or natural materials.
The criteria for the caroling contest include originality, which means the lyrics and song must be composed by the group, relevance to the theme, performance and costumes/props.
The event’s major sponsors are the Marianas Visitors Authority, Team PDI, the governor’s Office, the Japan-Saipan Travel Association and IT&E with the cooperation of the Department of Public Safety and the Department of Public Works.
As early as 3:30 p.m. on that day, Santa Claus will be driving around the island to give away candies.
