9 schools to participate in 7th Parade of Books tomorrow

The participants are Garapan, Oleai, Gregorio T. Camacho, Koblerville, Tinian, Green Meadows, Dandan, Kagman and Golden Harvest elementary schools. There will be no participants from Rota this year.

“We are excited to see what the school teams have to offer this year and we are encouraging everyone to come out and support them,” Rotarian and 2011 Parade of Books coordinator Jeff Boyer said.

Up for grabs are $1,000 cash prize for first place, $750 for second place, $500 for third place, $300 for fourth place, $200 for fifth place and $100 for consolation prizes.

The Pacific Islands Club donated 30 water park passes for the school that will win the Best in Spirit Award, and a one-night stay for the recipient of the Best Director Award.

Last year, Garapan Elementary School bagged the $1,000 cash prize after beating 13 other schools.

The 2011 Parade of Books is sponsored by Delta Airlines, Kishiwada North Rotary Club, Pacific Islands Club, DFS Galleria and the Marianas Variety. Admission to the Parade of Books is free.
