Liberation Queen Committee chairwoman Tina Pangelinan said the candidates will regularly join the mayor’s official functions.
Flores, for his part, thanked the candidates and their parents for supporting the Liberation Day celebration.
“”They are the most important group in this event,” the mayor said, adding that candidates will be involved in his public affairs programs.
Also attending yesterday’s presentation of candidates was Liberation Queen 2009 Isabel Rosa Maria Castro Muna.
She told Variety that she learned a lot during her participation in the community functions of the mayor’s office.
“Enjoy every moment of your life and help raise funds for the Liberation celebration,” she said, when asked about her message to this year’s candidates.
The candidates are:
• Angela Bermudes Aldan, 15, is a ninth grader at Kagman High School. Her parents are Joseph and Patricia Aldan. She represents the Northern Islands and her sponsor is Mayor Tobias Aldan.
• Sashana Igitol Atalig, 17, is a Kagman High School senior. She was accompanied by her mother Jessamin S. Igitol during yesterday’s presentation.
• Yuri Marie Evarrola Cepeda, 14, is in eighth grade at Hopwood Junior High School. Her parents are the late Felix Cepeda and Doris Cepeda.
• Rayna Anabeth Deleon Guerrero Chong, 15, is a ninth grader of Kagman High School. Her parents are Ramon and Joaquina Chong.
• Marla Helbert, 18, is a freshman of Northern Marianas College’s nursing department. She represents the Palauan community and her parents are Richard T. Mungwaath and Patricia Fritz
• Josifynn Vivian Quitugua Rasa,15, is a freshman at Marianas High School. Her parents are Vinnie and Roca Q. Sablan. Her family sponsored her participation.
• Zelma Alyssa Dela Cruz Santos, 18, is a high school graduate. Her parents are Albert and Zerah Santos, and her sponsors are Kai & Bros, and the Bank of Saipan
• Marie Kastel Santos Tambiga, 19, is attending Loyola University where she is a nursing student. She represents the Filipino community. Her parents are Erwin and Cristy Tambiga. She is sponsored by the United Filipino
Organizations and the Saipan Marianas Lions Club.
Pangelinan said Renee Hamilton Ada, the ninth candidate, was not able to join yesterday’s presentation.
Hamilton, 15, is in ninth grade at Saipan Southern High School. Her parents are John Ada and Paula Jean Hamilton.
