Aging Council election postponed

The scheduled council election on Friday was postponed due to a power interruption and will be held on Tuesday, Aging Center program coordinator Walter Manglona said.

“It was his dream that before he dies he can serve the manamko’,” Manglona said, referring to Mesa.

A fellow congregate, Teddy Guiao, is Mesa’s campaign manager this time .

Last week, each candidate was given three minutes to talk about their platforms but only Mesa talked for 30 seconds.

Manglona said among the 13 candidates, four have college degrees, three of whom are retired school teachers.

Rose Mondala, Office on Aging director, said she is satisfied with the lineup for this year’s election.

She hoped the new council will continue to carry out programs that will focus on the welfare and benefits of the congregates.

Tomorrow, the congregates will choose eight among the 13 candidates: Mesa, Christiana Michael, Meryalen Conrad, Alejandra Blas, Elena Villanueva, Jacoba Asuncion, Jesus Pangelinan, Maria Salinas, Bernard Sebangiol, Sitae Terry, Rita Reyes, Siyau Muna and Teresita Sorroza, the incumbent president.

“We’d like to make sure the whole process is smooth,” Manglona said.

The eight elected candidates will meet on Sept. 30 to choose the new officers, he said.
