Arts Council Executive Director Angel S. Hocog said the meeting will start at 2 p.m. at the their office on Capital Hill.
Hocog said the meeting aims to involve artists and performers in deciding whether the commonwealth, through the Arts Council, will send a delegation to represent the CNMI.
“The Arts Council would like to get the views and opinions of our local artists and performers in sending a delegation to represent the CNMI in this very important event that encourages the exchange and perpetuation of traditional arts and cultures among island nations and territories,” Hocog said.
He added that given the CNMI government’s budget limitations, “the burden of funding for the participation in this significant festival lies in the talented artists and performers.”
“It is incumbent upon us all to make a decision as the festival draws near,” Hocog said.
The theme for this year’s festival is “Culture in Harmony with Nature.”
Conceived by the Secretariat of the Pacific Community, the Festival of Pacific Arts, or Pacific Arts Festival, is a traveling festival hosted every four years by a different country in Oceania “as a means to stem erosion of traditional cultural practices by sharing and exchanging culture at each festival.”
