Quinn replaces Susan Cox who has been ambassador since October 2007. He is expected to take up his appointment in Feb. 2011.
Australia has warm relations with the FSM, the Marshall Islands, Palau as well as the U.S. territories of Guam and the Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands.
Quinn is a career foreign service officer with the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade. He has extensive professional experience in the Asia Pacific region.
He is a graduate of Sydney University and is married with four children.
