After graduating from Our Lady of Mt. Carmel High School in 1985, Babauta immediately enrolled at NMC to pursue a degree in the field of business. He was able to successfully obtain his associates of arts degree in business administration from the college just three years later.
With over 22 years in luxury retail business and as the current acting general manager of operations for Duty Free Shoppers Galleria Saipan one wonders where Babauta finds the time for himself.
Outside of his professional career, Babauta spends most of his leisure time road and mountain biking and running. He is married to Linda Babauta and they have two children, Nicole and Benjamin.
This humble community leader has served in many community based organizations to include 15 years as a member of the Tournament of Champions and current chairman, five years as the president of the NMC Foundation, five years as a member and past president of the Rotary Club of Saipan, president of the Saipan Swim Club (which garnered 51 medals during the recent Micro games held in Saipan), American Red Cross Board of Directors member, Free Trade Zone Board of Directors member, was an Assistant Scout Master for Boy Scouts Troop 902, and is the current Saipan Chamber of Commerce Business Person of the Year.
“One of the aspects that many NMC alumni cherish most about the college is the sense of belonging while attending the school,” said Babauta. “One of my fondest memories of NMC is helping to establish the Associated Students of the Northern Marianas College and being an officer.”
Babauta said that through his educational career at the college, he was able to gain the necessary organizational and leadership skills that would eventually help him to achieve and succeed in all his endeavors throughout his years of service in the retail industry.
