The board will conduct an investigation and has appointed Pam Sablan as the council’s acting executive director and spokeswoman.
The board also named Derek Duenas as interim chairman, replacing John Arriola.
Press Secretary Charles P. Reyes Jr. on Friday said the board had already informed the administration about its decision.
It was Gov. Benigno R. Fitial who ordered the board to look into the allegations of mismanagement.
Reyes declined to disclose the “plans” identified by the board to address the problems with the Call A Ride program.
In its letter to the administration, the board cited pertinent information regarding the program, the council and the board’s action.
Reyes said the administration respects the board’s will and actions.
Early last week, it was revealed that the administration planned to transfer the operation and management of the Call A Ride program to a non-profit group through a bidding process.
Whoever gets the contract will also manage the $120,000 grant from the Federal Transportation Agency.
The program benefits at least 80 clients everyday on Saipan.
The program has two buses for Saipan and one each for Rota and Tinian.
