BOE to re-bid meal contracts

BOE Vice Chairman Herman T. Guerrero, the chairman of the fiscal and personnel affairs committee, said the re-bidding was the result of the many protests filed in the previous school years regarding the selection and awarding of meal contracts.

“There have been protests filed with [the Public School System] and it’s the recommendation of OPA to review and re-bid the [nutrition assistance grant] for the next school year to prevent these cases from happening again and to address some confusion with regards to the awarding of contracts to the vendors,” Guerrero said.

Last June, meal vendor Barny’s Pizza filed a protest regarding the “erroneous evaluation, selection” of a meal contractor. The protest was later denied by  OPA.

Guerrero admitted that this case was factored in their decision to review and conduct a re-bidding of the meal contracts for the new school year.

The other vendors of  PSS include  Kalayaan, Aunti Mag’s Catering, MV Reyes, and LSG.

Guerrero said the re-bidding will require comments from the vendors.
