For this year’s celebration, Board of Education Chairwoman Lucy Blanco-Maratita wants to see a special activity that encourages more participation by the community in schools.
She also encourages parents to become more active participants in their children’s education.
“I think there still needs to be improved parental involvement,” she said.
This year’s Education Month theme is about education “opening the gate for endless learning,” she added.
Schools will conduct activities that highlight what they have been doing to improve student learning.
“We also want to encourage and invite the community to look at the education that’s going on in the schools and find ways that we can all collaborate,” Blanco-Maratita said.
