Joeten-Kiyu Public Library executive director John Gonzales said they will host a Read Aloud for the children at the Children of our Homeland Library, teach and demonstrate arts and crafts, and offer puzzles and quizzes to everybody.
Gonzales said they will also hold a yard sale where community members can buy and sell things that they don’t need at low prices.
A booth will likewise be set up for the Autism Awareness Month.
“We want to show our support to the Autism Society and for what they are doing to our community. Please come and visit us tomorrow and check our displays to keep you updated on their activities,” he said.
No amnesty
Gonzales said unlike the previous years, they won’t be having an amnesty program where fines for delinquent and overdue library materials will be waived.
Gonzales said there are thousands of dollars’ worth of fines from their delinquent list and they are still compiling the records to come up with an exact figure.
“Our records showed that we have so much to collect yet. Until we finalize our records, we won’t be giving amnesty programs for our delinquent borrowers,” Gonzales said.
The Joeten-Kiyu Public Library is hosting a series of monthlong events in conjunction with the celebration of the Public School System Library Month.
Last Wednesday, the library held an open house, a national Bookmobile Day and a movie night for its regular patrons. Today, the library will conduct a Read-Aloud and Crafts at the Children of our Homeland Library, and a “Create your own story @ your Library” session at the Homework Center at 3:30 p.m.
