Call-in complaints drop after GPS installed on school buses

Before, PSS received an average of three to five calls every week, according to Eric Atalig, the school system’s program manager for bus transportation.

With the installation of the tracking device, PSS is now receiving an average of one complaint in a week, he added.

“The call-in complaints dropped dramatically,” he said.

Last August, PSS started installing the “Max Track” on five school buses and two buses for the special education program.

Atalig said the purpose of the device is to ensure the safety of the school children.

This month, PSS  installed GPS devices on 12 of its 18 school buses, he added.

The device is provided by Docomo Pacific.

The Max Track allows for real-time updates, uninterrupted route tracking, multiple user access, customer support, speed monitoring, email and SMS notifications, vehicle location logs, customizable notifications for points of interest, detailed mileage reports, and many other exportable reports.

Atalig said drivers found to be violating the speed limit will be issued a warning or grounded depending upon the gravity of the offense.
