Chamorro Conference to tackle controversial issues

In an interview yesterday, the conference acting chairman, former Rep. Daniel O. Quitugua, said these issues include Article 12, the federalization law, the Marianas Public Land Trust, the marine monument proposal, and laws and regulations that are “directly affecting the livelihood of the Chamorros.”

The conference which is expected to draw hundreds of Chamorros from the Mariana islands will also discuss issues on language, culture, customs and folklore.

Northern Marinas College will provide live coverage of the conference for Tinian and Rota.

The first conference was held on Guam while the second was hosted by Rota.

Copies of the proceedings of the conference will be compiled and brought to the Public School System and the public library for future reference.
