Church to donate property to Karidat

Angie Deleon Guerrero, the executive director of Karidat, said Chalan Kanoa Bishop Tomas A. Camacho  informed her that the church will donate the property.

The Korean Association of Saipan, which used to lease the property, terminated it after 23 years.

The association will move out on April 10 and transfer to a property previously occupied by a garment factory in San Antonio.

Contrary to an earlier report, Deleon Guerrero said the Korean group will continue to subsidize Karidat’s utility bill until April.

Karidat is paying an average of $750 a month for water and electricity.

Deleon Guerrero said the Korean group has been very good to Karidat.

“We will find ways to lease out the facility so we can generate revenue,” she said, adding that Karidat never paid its utility bills since it started its operations.

Karidat is a non-profit organization that cater to the needs of underprivileged people and families including displaced foreign workers. It gets its funding from grants and donations.
