CNMI DOL: 663 job seekers turn out for job fair

(CNMI DOL) — The CNMI Department of Labor is proud to announce the resounding success of its latest job fair, which drew 663 job seekers and 39 employers and agencies to the Marianas Beach Resort on Friday, July 25, 2025. The event ran from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. and brought together employers, government agencies, educational institutions, and community members in a unified effort to strengthen the local workforce.

With the theme “Fueling CNMI’s Future – One Job at a Time,” the job fair reflected the current state of the Commonwealth — a time when every job matters and every opportunity has the potential to improve livelihoods and drive economic   stability. The event served as a powerful reminder that each employment connection, no matter how small, contributes to the broader goal of building a stronger, more resilient CNMI.

The Department of Labor emphasized its ongoing commitment to increasing the size of the local workforce and to providing the training, education, and career pathways necessary for residents to thrive. This includes supporting both job seekers entering the workforce for the first time and experienced workers seeking to upskill or transition into new industries.

A diverse array of key industries participated, including construction, manpower services, retail, and hospitality — all essential sectors for the CNMI’s economic growth. Job seekers also had access to career resources from various government and educational partners, including:

Saipan Higher Education Financial Assistance

Northern Marianas Technical Institute

Office of Vocational Rehabilitation

Northern Marianas College

Island Training Solutions

CNMI DOL-Workforce Investment Agency

CNMI Women’s Affairs

Division of Youth Services

The event provided attendees with not only job openings, but also valuable information about financial aid, technical training, vocational rehabilitation services, and youth employment programs.

CNMI Department of Labor Secretary Leila Staffler praised the collaboration and dedication shown by both employers and job seekers:

“Workforce development is about more than filling positions — it’s about building the capacity of our people and our islands. When we equip individuals with the skills, resources, and opportunities they need, we are investing in the future of the CNMI. Every job created, every skill learned, strengthens our communities. The Department of Labor will continue to work hand-in-hand with our partners to ensure our workforce is prepared to meet the challenges and seize the opportunities ahead.”

Director of Employment Services, Eugene Tebuteb added, “Despite the inclement weather, the strong turnout reflects our community’s unwavering commitment to workforce development and economic resilience, underscoring the shared understanding that every job filled strengthens not only individual livelihoods, but also the long-term stability and prosperity of the CNMI.”

For those unable to attend, the department reminds the public that employment assistance and workforce development services are available year-round:

Employment Services: (670) 664-3190, Building No. 1323, Ascension Drive, Capital Hill, info@dol.gov.mp

The Department of Labor extends its sincere appreciation to all participating employers, partner agencies, and attendees for making the event a success. Recognizing the continued demand for job opportunities and skilled workers, the department confirms that another job fair is planned for the beginning of 2026, reinforcing its dedication to connecting local talent with meaningful employment and fostering a strong, competitive CNMI workforce.
