(CNMI DOL) — The CNMI Department of Labor is reminding the business community that there must be timely communication with the CNMI DOL and their affected employees should they undergo a reduction in force or business closure. This requirement is outlined in § 80-20.1-240.
Businesses planning a Reduction in Force or RIF or closure must submit written notices to the Office of Administrative Services at 1356 Mednilla St. on Capital Hill. This notice must be provided at least 60 days prior to the planned RIF or closure. Affected employees must receive written notices at least 30 days in advance of the RIF or closure.
It is imperative that all businesses adhere to these requirements to ensure compliance with CNMI labor laws and to provide adequate time for employees to prepare for the transition. Failure to comply with these regulations may result in penalties and legal consequences. The CNMI Department of Labor is committed to supporting both businesses and employees through these transitions and ensuring that all actions are conducted fairly and transparently.
For additional information or to submit your notices, contact the Office of Administrative Services at Building 1356 on Capital Hill. You may also call (670) 664-3196 or email info@dol.gov.mp for further assistance.
