Corrections Commissioner Lino S. Tenorio handed a plaque to Corrections Officer 2 Manuel B. Quitano and commended him for being an “excellent example of a hard working corrections officer who does his job well with vigor and enthusiasm.”
“This is the first time for the department to have an awardee since the program was implemented over a year ago,” Tenorio said.
He added that Quitano’s “remarkable achievement” should inspire his colleagues.
The award, Tenorio added, shows that dedication and devotion to duty as well as perseverance are recognized and rewarded.
Tenorio said identifying key personnel and staff within the department and awarding the deserving will help motivate the employees to continue striving for excellence.
Quitano, the employee of the year for 2006-2007, said he didn’t expect the award.
“I am so surprised,” was all he said.
