CORRY Pangelinan is still one of the top riders in the veteran division of Marianas Racing Association’s weekly competitive races held at the Kan Pacific temporary race tracks last Sunday.
It was not an easy race for Pangelinan as he had to work his way to the top. In heat 1, it was Melvin Cepeda who stood at the frontline executing each turn successfully to snatch first place. However, Pangelinan returned to heat 2 with hunger and it showed as he powered his way into the finish line at first place. With heat 2 being the tie-breaker, it was Pangelinan who grasped the first place seat beating Melvin Cepeda who settled for second place.
Taking third place was Patrick Cabrera as he finished at third place in both heats to secure his seat. Byron Castro struggled in heat 1 but bounced back the second time around claiming 4th place while Ray Yumul took 5th, Keoni Macaranas at 6th, Christian Camacho at 7th and Ton Basa as the lone ATV rider.
Melvin Cepeda did not end the day empty handed however as he took first place in the veteran division followed by Patrick Cabrera at 2nd and Ray Yumul at 3rd place.
As for the expert open division, Shane Alvarez continues to reign supreme. He was unmatched as he took both heats with ease to lock in 1st place. Angelito Hernaez had a strong output giving Alvarez a run for his money but could not gain enough momentum to overtake and instead, fell at 2nd place. In 3rd place was Christian Camacho with his ATV followed by Corry Pangelinan at 4th, Cuki Alvarez at 5th and Melvin Cepeda at 6th place.
And in the Minis 1 and 2 division, it was a bit different as four female riders made an appearance this time. Mariana Alvarez stood tall taking both heats for 1st place beating Ethan Yumul who shadowed behind at 2nd place while Maribel Igitol claimed 3rd place. Edina Cepeda placed 4th followed by Devin Yumul at 5th and Melshy Cepeda at 6th.
