Court summons Villagomez, Santos couple for failing to obey orders

U.S. District Court for the NMI Chief Judge Alex R. Munson issued the separate orders for the three defendants yesterday, ordering them to appear in court at 9 a.m. on June 4  to show cause why they should not be held in contempt for violating a court order to cooperate with the U.S. Probation Office.

Munson said the court issued an order orally from the bench on April 24 to report and cooperate fully with the U.S. Probation Office, including submitting a personal interview and signing all consent and waiver forms necessary for the Office of the Probation to complete its presentence report.

Jurors convicted the three of  theft and bribery charges.

Munson said the hearing set for June 4 will be canceled if the U.S. Probation Office notified the court that the defendants have signed all the necessary forms and that the personal interview commenced before 11:30 a.m. on May 18.

On Wednesday, Munson granted the motion of the federal government to move the hearing for all the post-trial motions filed by the defendants to June 22 from its original schedule set for June 4.

The defendants filed separate motions for a new trial for prosecutorial misconduct.

They also filed a motion to disqualify Munson from handling the case.
