CPA police deputy chief Jordon Lee Kosam yesterday said the newly purchased K-9s will boost the agency monitoring efforts.
The K-9s and three CPA police officers were certified at the Lackland Air Force Base in Texas.
He said the CPA police officers who underwent 10 weeks of training in Texas were Mark Toves, Byron Kaipat and Jessie Castro.
The K-9s will provide explosive ordinance detection at the airport, sea port, schools, government establishments and other vital areas on island.
“The K-9s were provided to CPA to help us in detect improvised explosive devices,” Kosam said.
He added that the K-9s will be working closely with Customs, which has two K-9s for its daily operations.
“With our additional force, it will be so much easier to cover areas that need to be covered,” he said.
