Before Telesource’s 20-year contract expired on March 31, the new two-year contract was signed, he added. It took effect on April 1, 2020 and will end on April 1, 2022.
Camacho said Telesource failed to comply with some provisions in the previous contract. These, he added, pertain to the improvement of the facilities and infrastructure, overhauling of engines and other enhancement programs.
But under the new contract, CUC gave Telesource an opportunity to comply with these requirements through a build-operate-transfer program, Camacho said.
There are no additional costs involved in the contract, he added.
“A CUC committee has determined the extension of two-year contract to be sufficient,” Camacho said, adding that the Office of the Attorney General reviewed thoroughly the new contract with Telesource.
