CUC hires Philippine company to improve Agingan plant

CUC deputy director Bruce Megarr said Nalco personnel have started the operation of the belt press, a device used for the continuous separation or dewatering of solids from water-based organic and mineral sludge and slurries.

Last December, he said, the Nalco sludge-dewatering program was used for the first time at the plant.

In his report to Megarr, Nalco’s engineer Stephen Rex S. Paradela said plant operators have observed improvement based on the belt press performance almost immediately.

But according to Nalco, “In spite of the positive observations made, we believe that the performance of the belt press may further be improved and maintained.”

In its report to CUC, Nalco recommended the installation of a two-tank feed system in the plant, controlling the sludge rate, metering the polymer feed rate and the establishment of a system performance monitoring to gauge the success of the treatment program.
