He said CUC coordinated with the Water Task Force and the Environment Protection Agency in the opening of the water wells last week.
The wells are now providing 300 to 350 gallons per minute, expanding the water hours to six in the Capital Hill and As Matuis areas, Megarr said.
Lower As Matuis is 24-hour pressurized while upper As Matuis is now 23-hour pressurized, he added.
The As Matuis and San Roque areas are getting supply from the six Marpi deep wells.
Megarr said CUC is also expected to open a water well at the Sablan Quary after the laboratory result is released.
He said water rationing is still implemented in some areas that are not 24-hour pressurized and water hours may vary during the dry season.
The areas that are 24-hour pressurized are As Matuis, Lower Base, Tanapag, As Mahetog, As Teo, Puerto Rico, Gualo Rai, Kagman, San Vicente, Kagman subdivision, Kannat Tabla, Finasisu, Chalan Kanoa, Susupe, Airport Dandan, Obyan, As Lito, Airport Road, Dandan Shell to NMC, Koblerville, San Antonio, Afetnas, Chalan Piao, As Gonno, Koblerville, As Perdido and Chalan Kiya.
About 80 percent of the water supply comes from wells and the average water consumption on Saipan reaches one million gallons everyday, Megarr said.
