CUC assistant Executive Director Abe Utu Malae said in his power generation status that they had 60.6 megawatts available power on Saipan as of Oct. 27. He said the peak load noted on June 3, 2010 was 44.9-MW compared to 35.9-MW recorded last Tuesday.
CUC has a standby power of 20-MW and a total installed capacity of 96.2-MW, he added.
Of the seven engines at Power Plant 1, six are operational: diesel engines 1, 2, 3, 5, 6, and 7.
The turbocharger of diesel engine 5 of PP1 is scheduled to be overhauled before it can increase its load to 10-MW. It is currently producing 8-MW.
CUC is waiting for the required parts and materials needed to overhaul diesel engine 8 of PP1, Malae said.
PP1 has an available 44-MW capacity, but its desired power production should be 71.7-MW.
PP2 is currently producing 6-MW although its four engines are designed to produce 10-MW.
At Power Plant 4, administered by PMIC, only diesel engine 3 is down for maintenance. PP4 is producing a total of 10.6-MW.
