Muna said they have nothing to hide and will prepare the documents necessary for review by the committee, which now has a newly appointed vice chairman, Rep. Francisco S. Dela Cruz, Covenant-Saipan.
Rep. Tina M. Sablan, Ind.-Saipan and chairwoman of the panel, earlier said her committee was still gathering data and documents from various government agencies concerned.
She said one of the documents they will require from CUC is its 2007 financial statement.
Her committee is planning to hold the oversight hearings sometime in July after they have collected pertinent documents like contracts that CUC signed, account receivables, and other data.
The committee will also call on witnesses should it become necessary, Sablan said.
“Over the next couple of weeks the committee will be gathering information and documents that would be pertinent to the oversight investigation,” she stated. “Letters should be going out next week and the week after to CUC and other agencies.”
Sablan said the delegation chairman, Rep. Ramon A. Tebuteb, R-Saipan, has already indicated his support for the legislative oversight on CUC.
According to Rep. Edward T. Salas, R-Saipan, the last time CUC underwent a legislative oversight was in 1990.
The committee will hold its next meeting on July 9 after Sablan returns from a personal off-island trip.
The other member of the committee is Sen. Maria T. Pangelina, D-Saipan.
