He said the mayor, who is on personal leave in Hawaii, will return to Saipan before the end of the month.
Hofschneider said, in compliance with Gov. Ralph DLG Torres’ declaration of state of public health emergency, the mayor’s office, like other government offices, has shut down.
But Hofschneider said the mayor’s office will respond to any request from the community in case of an emergency.
The removal of debris and other services provided by the mayor’s office to the community have been suspended, but the temporary animal shelter in As Perdido remains open, he said, adding that personnel work for two hours each day to feed and take care of the dogs.
