Visiting federal Judge A. Wallace Tashima directed that a presentence report be submitted by Aug. 16, 2011, and granted the U.S. government’s request to lift the no-contact order with her husband, Mohamad Jahangir Miah, a co-defendant.
The U.S. Probation Office earlier filed an informational report to the federal court that Mrs. Miah had not been submitting her monthly supervision report.
Mrs. Miah told a federal probation officer who visited her at her residence in Koblerville that she “forgot” to turn in her reports.
The U.S. Probation Office has asked the federal court to remind Mrs. Miah the importance of submitting her reports in a timely manner. She has failed to submit her reports since March 2011.
Assistant U.S. Attorney Kirk Schuler is prosecuting the case, while Mrs. Miah is being represented by her court-appointed defense attorney G. Anthony Long.
The federal court earlier rescheduled Mohammad Jahangir Miah’s jury trial for Sept. 12, 2011, from June 20, 2011. It was earlier scheduled for March 7, 2011.
Mr. Miah has denied the charges.
Mr. Miah’s co-defendants, former Bureau of Motor Vehicles examiner William A. Hocog, Hongmei Sun and Hui Qiang Yan each admitted the offense of conspiracy to unlawfully produce and transfer an identification document — a CNMI driver’s license. They will be sentenced in September and are on pretrial release.
