Fewer performers for Liberation festivities

Liberation entertainment committee chairwoman Glorina Teuira said they will have four performers each night on weekends.

“The performers pretty much understand the situation since we told them from the beginning that our operation will depend on our available budget,” she said.

This year, there are at least 40 performers, including bands, dancers and soloists.

Previously, performers get $100 per hour.

Beginning last year, the rate was reduced to $50-$75.

Teuira is encouraging entertainers to give free performances during the festivities.

She said Anna’s Fashion Show will stage a free fashion show on June 25.

“I am encouraging others to also volunteer and donate their time,” she said.

Last Sunday night, Ryan Anderson, a Guam-based magician, performed for free, she added.
