“The church is relatively young,” Fr. Ryan Jimenez said.
The celebration will be highlighted by a Mass that will be celebrated by Camacho, and all parish priests in CNMI at 6 a.m. at the cathedral, Jimenez said.
He said when Mt. Carmel Cathedral was established in 1985, Camacho was also ordained as the first bishop of the commonwealth.
The church is hopeful that many local residents will aspire to become priest, Jimenez added.
The church has programs that help interested individuals to prepare for the priesthood.
The CNMI has three local priests — Ike Ayuyu, Sid Ogumoru and Jessie Reyes.
James Balajadia is studying at the Mt. Angel Seminary.
“We have high hopes for him that he will succeed in his endeavor to become a priest,” Jimenez said, as he encouraged other young local people to serve the church as priests.
