DOLI-Rota says it needs more funds

THE Department of Labor and Immigration’s resident office on Rota has not enough funds,

acting Resident Director Thomas A. Manglona said.

He has asked acting Labor and Immigration Secretary Joaquin A. Tenorio to extend federal funding assistance to the Rota office.

Manglona, in his letter to Tenorio, said DOLI’s office on Rota had not received any federal funding assistance

“(We) have been patient for too long now and with your new leadership as the acting secretary, you will be able to see that our request for any funding assistance is way overdue,” Manglona said in his letter.

DOLI’s Rota office is funded through the island’s Mayor’s Office.

However, Manglona said even if DOLI-Rota had received funds from the Mayor’s Office, they are still entitled to federal funding assistance.

“We need this, especially when we are trying to work with the department to carry out its duties and responsibilities to the commonwealth,” he added.

A similar request was also made by Manglona to Sen. Ricardo S. Atalig, R-Rota and the chairman of the island’s legislative delegation.
