Taotao Tani submitted its application three months ago.
In his letter dated July 23 to Gregorio S. Cruz Jr., Taotao Tano president, DPL Secretary John S. Del Rosario Jr. said “certain activities will pose traffic and pedestrian hazards in the vicinity.”
Last May, DPL denied the application of O.K. Bun Han under Ju and Han Corp. to use a portion of the right-of-way in the same place as parking area for motorcycles and scooters.
According to the Department of Public Works, the parked scooters and motorcycles will “definitely hamper the efficiency of the ‘sight triangle’ in the proximity of the intersection; it will impede the line of sight of motorists exiting from Cpl. Derence Jack Road toward Beach Road; and it also affect the efficiency of the sidewalk around the corner — pedestrians will have a tendency to walk at a distance from the parked scooters and motorcycles.”
In his letter to Cruz, Del Rosario said: “It would have been responsible had you mentioned to the news media, especially Marianas Variety, that you are an applicant for the same site. It would have absolved you from hiding behind the shadows of half truths.”
Del Rosario added, “Working with half facts is hopes of manipulating the truth isn’t my view of people with honesty and integrity.”
Cruz said Rosario failed to understand why Taotao Tano applied for the same lot, adding that it was meant to deter illegal activities.
Taotano Tano has been questioning DPL for “giving special favors and priority treatments.”
Cruz has asked Rosario to explain why DPL allowed Asian Scooter to use public land for “free.”
Cruz said DPL has yet to cite the company for any violations or demand back pay from Asian Scooter for utilizing the property.
