“Everything is all right in the department,” Santiago told the Variety.
“They are still innocent until proven guilty,” he added, referring to Detective Christopher Leon Guerrero and Sgt. Joseph Agulto.
Tudela added, “If they are found guilty, they will exit DPS.”
Leon Guerrero was the supervisor of a task force created by DPS against robbery, burglary and theft incidents, while Agulto was a shift supervisor for the patrol section.
Tudela said DPS has suspended Leon Guerrero and Agulto, while the Internal Affairs looks into their cases.
Leon Guerrero was charged with extortion, while Agulto is facing an assault and battery complaint.
Leon Guerrero was arrested by the Federal Bureau of Investigation while Agulto was taken into custody by DPS.
