On Friday, DPS Commissioner Santiago F. Tudela and boating safety officers presented certificates of appreciation to Ray Crisostimo, Patrick Aldan, Department of Corrections Commissioner Lino Tenorio, Ashley Castro and Darrell Concepcion.
DPS spokeswoman Lei Ogumoro said the five individuals were praised “for their outstanding bravery and heroism in rescuing and saving the lives of people who needed help.”
Tenorio rescued two surfers stranded outside the reef line of Sugar Dock due to strong currents early on Jan. 3. The two were stranded for about an hour when Tenorio passed near the reef line in his vessel.
Castro and Conception rescued a 3-year-old boy who nearly drowned in the waters off Paupau Beach in San Roque on the afternoon of Jan. 18.
The two applied cardiopulmonary resuscitation on the boy until the medics arrived to transport the child to the Commonwealth Health Center.
