THE Department of Public Works on Tuesday announced a new schedule for operations at the Solid Waste Management Division’s Lower Base Refuse Transfer Station and the Marpi landfill.
From Jan. 21, 2025 to May 1, 2025 the Lower Base transfer station will be closed every Wednesday.
The temporary hours of operations of the two solid waste management facilities will be as follows:
–Lower Base facility — 7:45 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. to 3 p.m. on Tuesdays and Thursdays.
–Marpi landfill — 8 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. to 3 p.m. on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays.
DPW Secretary Ray N. Yumul said the temporary schedule will ensure “minimal disruption of essential public services while providing necessary training and skill enhancement for all primary and alternate solid waste management personnel for the municipalities of Saipan, Rota and Tinian.”
