Drunk man lands in jail for resisting arrest, obstruction of justice

Superior Court Associate Judge David A. Wiseman imposed a $3,250 bail on Winfred Atalig Pua.

In his affidavit, Officer Buddy S. Igitol stated that he, together with other officers, responded to a  disturbance complaint at about 8:35 p.m. on Saturday at the Sebastian Building in Tanapag.

Arriving in the parking lot of Candis Poker, Igitol said he, Officers John Wabol and Abraham Villagomez saw Pua, his girlfriend Annette Castro and Sheldon Kaainoa.

Pua was leaning onto a parked pick-up truck, while Castro was comforting Kaainoa, Igitol said.

Castro told the officers that the three of them were drunk, Igitol said.

The three were drinking earlier at Paupau Beach.

Pua struck Kaainoa several times in the face because of a small misunderstanding, Igitol said.

As the officers were escorting the three to their apartments, Pua  threatened to kill Igitol, the officer said,

“When we finally managed to secure Pua in handcuffs and while helping him to his feet, Pua kicked me in my lower abdomen with his right leg at the same time repeatedly yelling that he was going to kill me,” Igitol said.

Pua also hit Villagomez in the groin with his knees.

Pua was later transported and detained at the Department of Corrections facility.
