Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve invites employers to lunch

“With upcoming deployments, many of our employers on Guam and in the CNMI are still uncertain and concerned over their responsibilities to their employees who serve in the National Guard and Reserve. This informative briefing will provide employers with answers to ensure compliance with the Uniformed Services Employment and Reemployment Rights Act, and suggestions on how best to manage their employees who serve their country in the National Guard and Reserve,” said Capt. Josephine Blas, public affairs director and program administrator.

“Since Sept. 11, 2001, more than 650,000 National Guard and Reserve men and women across the United States have left their families and employers to serve on active duty in the Global War on Terrorism.  Specifically, on Guam and in the CNMI, there are more than 2,700 members in the Guard and Reserve, who serve, work, and live in our community. The outpouring of support continues to be overwhelming and none of this could have been possible without the strong backing from employers of the brave men and women who serve this great Nation, and our Islands,” Blas added.

ESGR is a Department of Defense agency established in 1972. The mission of ESGR is to gain and maintain active support from all public and private employers for the men and women of the National Guard and Reserve by advocating relevant initiatives, recognizing outstanding employer support, increasing awareness of the law, and resolving conflicts through informal mediation.
