Ex lt. governor urges NMI leaders to ‘work together’

“Let us work very hard. We can be a better people,” he added, after he received a commemorative resolution from the Legislature on Capital Hill.

Manglona, who celebrated his 73rd birthday on the same day, said it is still his dream that the people of the CNMI will be united and aspire for the common good.

“People should be honest in all things and love one another,” he added.

The Senate and the House of Representative adopted a joint commemorative resolution honoring Manglona for his distinguished career in public office and congratulating and commending him for his countless exemplary accomplishments and contributions to the people of the  CNMI.

He said he was honored and happy to receive the commendation from the Legislature.

Manglona is also a former Rota mayor, Senate president, constitutional convention delegate, Marianas District Legislature member and Congress of Micronesia member.

He said he believes that there are people who have a progressive vision for the CNMI and are willing to love the people and give jobs to the unemployed.

“If people are united and are all looking for the common interest of the islands we will have one people and one commonwealth — that is my belief in life,” Manglona said.

He said the CNMI economy can recover if “our leaders will work together.”

Rep. Teresita A. Santos, Ind.-Rota, introduced the resolution. She said  it’s extremely difficult to find another person like Manglona who has the same compassion and devotion to public service.

She said Manglona dedicated his life to the people of the Northern Marianas.
